An Indonesian sandalwood obtained through a higher-pressure process, intended for comparing how distillation conditions change the density, depth, and woody expression of the same wood.

＋ 01 — Origin and botany

Santalum album L., the white sandalwood, is a tree of the Santalaceae family native to Java, the Lesser Sunda Islands, the Philippines, and northern Australia. In Indonesia, it grows within its natural range.

The aromatic material is found in the heartwood, the inner wood of the trunk and roots, which becomes enriched in oil as the tree ages.

＋ 02 — Extraction and production

The wood is distilled via high-pressure steam, a more intense process than its low-pressure counterpart. The components that define the scent of sandalwood are α- and β-santalol.

＋ 03 — Olfactory profile

The pure oil. Indonesian sandalwood is characterized by a creamy, warm, and woody profile; this version allows for the study of the effect of a more intense distillation on its texture, aromatic weight, and persistence.
