The composition

Five ways to understand oud, 0.25 g each. This set brings together three Aquilaria crassna oils from Laos, a kinamic from Aquilaria sinensis grown in Malaysia and a CO₂ extract of Aquilaria sinensis from Hainan: from animalic, traditional oud to clean, fresh, resinous oud. It costs 10% less than buying them separately.

  • Oud Leather — Laos. Hydrodistilled only from resinated wood, with moderate fermentation. Leather, smoke and phenolic facets, no sourness: dark, serene and elegant.
  • Oud Boya — Laos. White wood and long fermentation. The classic Indian oud: animalic and intense; diluted, refined hay and raw leather.
  • Oud CO₂ — Laos. Supercritical extraction, no fermentation. Creamy, resinous and delicately smoky, with soft leather, tobacco and vanilla.
  • Oud Kinamic — Malaysia. Cultivated Aquilaria sinensis, hydrodistilled with very light fermentation. Fresh cacao opening with a liqueur-like nuance; serious, elegant woody base.
  • Oud CO₂ — Hainan. Chinese Aquilaria sinensis extracted with supercritical CO₂: the character of Chinese agarwood, without the transformations of distillation.
＋ How to use it

Try them one by one on a blotter or on skin, taking your time: oud changes a lot in the first few hours. These are very potent materials, so 0.25 g is enough to get to know each oil in depth and for your first formulation trials.

Simplistic ingredient list that hides an elegant development.
Powdery rooty facets surround a clean oud mix in which Hainan profile shines brighter, woody slightly resinous, sweet and leathery notes are predominant, with orris root as a continuous support. Ambergris can be felt soon and gains strength as time progresses, respectful to the oud.

Longevity is excellent, projection is more subtle but, as attar standards go, it's enough and suited to the elegant character of the composition. Thanks to that, it probably can be worn throughout the whole year, and I can confirm it survives on skin enough to be felt after a dip at the sea. Having said that, it probably suits more daily wear, specially if you work dressed up in a suit. Traditionally masculine leaning but I think it would suit anyone willing.

Underpriced for what it is and its ingredients. I'm glad I bough three grams as I gave one to a friend as a present and I keep two.

The owner of the brand is also really communicative, open and a good inspiration for those that want to share his passion.
