The composition

Madagascan vetiver is earthy, dry and woody, with a clean, balanced green freshness. Compared with smokier vetivers, it is a refined root that brings structure without darkening the composition.

+ 01 — Origin and botany

Vetiver, Chrysopogon zizanioides (L.) Roberty, is a perennial grass of the Poaceae family, native from north-eastern India to Indochina. It was formerly called Vetiveria zizanioides. In Madagascar it is an introduced crop.

The aromatic part is its long, dense roots.

+ 02 — Extraction and production

The dried roots are distilled for many hours, because their components are heavy and come over slowly. This batch comes in a leather kuppi bottle.

+ 03 — Olfactory profile

The neat oil. Earthy, dry and woody, with a clean, balanced green freshness.

+ 04 — Uses in perfumery
  • Woody accords: in small doses it adds dryness, tenacity and a refined root facet.
  • Chypre, leather and incense: structure and depth.
