The composition
This Nepalese patchouli moves away from the dark, heavy, purely woody image commonly associated with the material. It is the lightest interpretation in our patchouli collection.
+ 01 — Origin and botany
Pogostemon cablin (Blanco) Benth. is a perennial subshrub in the Lamiaceae family, which also includes mint and lavender. It is native to Sri Lanka, Sumatra, Java, Malaysia, the Philippines and New Guinea. In Nepal, it is cultivated.
The aromatic part is the leaves.
+ 02 — Extraction and production
The leaves are dried before steam distillation. The oil's characteristic constituent is patchouli alcohol. This batch comes from the 2025 harvest.
+ 03 — Olfactory profile
The neat oil. Lighter than classic patchouli, far from its dark, heavy image.
+ 04 — Uses in perfumery
- Bright chypres: where patchouli is desired without its weight.
- Floral and woody compositions: a base note that does not darken the fragrance.
- Exploring origins: part of our Nepal, Aceh and Madagascar patchouli trio.
